The rivers are rising...

More wet weather on already saturated ground means more flooding across the Park and Estate. The water rose enough today to start trickling over the causeway, despite us raising the level by four inches after the devastation caused by last years floods. We are monitoring the water level closely and we will see how it looks in the morning before deciding whether or not to close access to the deer park. If you are out with children or dogs on long leads then please be particularly careful - the river banks are completely underwater so what looks like a few inches of paddling water can drop very suddenly.

  1. Blimey, that must be broadly the same height it was last year when it washed the top of the causeway away. After today's forecast heavy rain I'd be surprised if the deer park was accessible over the weekend. Good luck - you do a great job and could do without things like this making life more difficult!

  2. Did I see that the fields on the other side of the A5 are being developed? If they are, is that going to cause the estate any increased flooding problems?

  3. Hi Robin, the work going on at the moment on the river Severn side is a new water pipe which shouldn't cause any issues. I think the flooding is slowing their work schedule down though!
The river level had dropped today so we will see what the next few days bring - fingers crossed we will start to dry out soon.
